At the MTOC Tournament, ECYSA teams made an excellent showing. All ECYSA teams were
competitive within their divisions and groupings. As you may know, as a tournament
of league champions, it is extremely difficult challenge to advance to the medal round.
A number of ECYSA teams were “on the bubble” to make the medal round on Sunday and
unfortunately were knocked out by tie-breakers. However, eight ECYSA teams did make
it through to Sunday, the FINAL FOUR TEAMS! The ECYSA teams making the Final Four were:
U19 Girls Winthrop Lady Vikings
U18 Girls Salem Lady Magic
U14 Girls 2 Saugus Stingrays
U12 Girls 1 Newburyport Hurricanes
----
U19 Boys Swampscott Mavericks
U14 Boys 1 North Andover Red Fury
U14 Boys 2 Ipswich Riptide
U12 Boys 2 Lynn Titans
In addition to the eight teams advancing to the medal round, ECYSA offers congratulations
to the U16 Girls 2 North Andover Storm for winning the MTOC Sportsmanship Award for their
age group/division.
All the ECYSA Final Four teams played very competitive matches in the semi-finals and two
of the teams advanced to the championship games. ECYSA is pleased to report that both
teams brought home MTOC championships!
U19 Boys Swampscott Mavericks defeated Framingham 2-1
U14 Boys 1 North Andover Red Fury defeated Brookline 2-1
Congratulations to our state champions and all our ECYSA teams for an excellent showing
at the 2008 MTOC Tournament!
Referee Recognition – One more achievement recognition for ECYSA! The MTOC Tournament
draws referees from around the state of Massachusetts selected by invitation only.
As part of the MTOC event, the state referee administrative committee evaluates matches
to select a referee judged to be the best official at the tournament. The selected referee
is presented the prestigious Dennis LaVersa Award, named after the long-time MTOC referee
assignor. ECYSA is pleased to share with our membership that for the second time in the
four year history of the award, an ECYSA referee has been selected as the recipient.
Congratulations to ECYSA Board member and Methuen Town Director Mike Borislow for a job
well done and a recognition well deserved!
